Les papallones del Nord de Queensland sempre han atret emptomòlegs i artistes. La residència que porto a terme a Cairns, a Tanks Center és un Estudi colaboratiu amb el biòleg Santi Ruiz de l’Escola Betània Patmos a Barcelona.
Fascinada pels diferents estats de la vida d’una papallona i la seva semblança amb els meus estats personals de vida o de qualsevol ésser humà, desenvolupo un projecte cal·ligràfic, de gravat i pictòric utilitzant només paper japonès, aquarel·les, tintes de gravat amb bàrem i amb màxim respecte pel processos i materials de conservació, sorbre les exquisites espècies de papallones de Cairns.

Carme Dapena Gonzàlez is a painter, calligrapher, engraver, and educator, based in Spain. Her residency in Cairns is part of a collaborative study with biologist, Santi Ruiz for BetàniaPatmos School in Barcelona. Carme is fascinated with the stages of a butterfly’s life and their resemblance to her own personal stages through life. Using etching with watercolour and calligraphy, Carme will research our native butterfly species and produce an exquisite series that is both scientific and highly emotive.
